We have some exciting news to share with you all. We’re delighted to announce that Mind Blank’s CEO and Founder, Ally Kelly, has been recognised in the 2021 Suicide Prevention Australia LiFE Awards in the category of Outstanding Contribution for Queensland.
This national event showcases the important work of suicide prevention and support of people affected by suicide across Australia.
Ally is thrilled to have been nominated and recognised for her efforts over the last 10 years. Suicide prevention is why Mind Blank exists. We aim to reduce the risk of suicide in schools, workplaces, and communities.
Here is a message from Ally:
” It is an absolute honour to accept the Outstanding Achievement Award for the state of QLD as part of the Suicide Prevention Australia LIFE awards series 2021!!!
10 years ago I set out on a journey to make a difference in the sector space. My past self felt the burden of trauma, uncontrollable depression, and ongoing grief cycles. Yet, I kept putting myself out there as my journey drove me to overcome my trust issues and shattered self-esteem. My voice needed to be heard!
My utopian dream is a place where all citizens are equipped to know how to respond in a time of need. Imagine a world where we don’t have to max our mental health services and wellness is prioritised working alongside the clinical model.
Many fans and cheerleaders have supported me to see that my voice matters and my efforts have not been unnoticed. The honest reality is that I would not be here celebrating today if it wasn’t for the bystander who intervened in my story. A young woman stopped me in a time where PTSD had paralyzed me. She offered me an unbias ear to listen to my concerns and handed me the business card of a trauma counsellor.
In that moment I was given the opportunity to break a cycle of oppression that women in my family have experienced for generations. Suicide ideation did not defeat me! It has offered me a powerful why that has motivated the start of the Mind Blank charity advocating suicide prevention and early intervention strategies. I honestly believe in a brighter future and I look forward to a collaborative effort moving forward.
An honest thank you to my team for all your efforts. I am not alone on the journey. You are all legendary!!!”
We look forward to keeping you up to date with all our latest updates shortly.
With Warm Regards,
The Mind Blank Team
